Principal's Message

Welcome to Traughber Junior High School!

Our priority is to ensure that every student has daily opportunities to live the Traughber vision:

I am a problem solver…
a critical thinker…
an effective communicator.
I am accountable for my choices.
I will persevere, even when it is tough.

My experience as an educator has shown me that what we believe about our students’ potential matters. At Traughber, we believe that every student can learn and succeed at high levels. We are committed to supporting and partnering with all of our families to do what is best for our students.

I have had the opportunity to serve as a classroom teacher, a curriculum director, a school district executive director of educational services, and now as Principal of Traughber Junior High School. Across these experiences, I learned that students need to feel they belong and have a genuine connection to school. Junior high school can be a challenging time, but it is also where students learn about themselves and build the foundations to succeed in high school and beyond.

My wife, Julie (who is a Reading Specialist in another school district), and I have three children, Lily, Jack, and Sam. We have been fortunate to see them grow at every level of school through friendships, activities, and outside interests. When we aren’t watching them perform on stage, play soccer, or make videos for their YouTube channel, our family likes to be home watching movies/sports or traveling to interesting places.

Ultimately, we know that learning occurs when students, families, and educators collaborate to ensure a genuinely inclusive school environment that recognizes every student’s strengths and needs for support. We appreciate the partnerships with our families and community that make Traughber a wonderful place to be.
